Performing Mozart Requiem Twice

Requiem was the very last work penned by Mozart before his most untimely death. The composition has been the subject of debate, historical intrigue, and the musical center around which the plot of an Academy Award-winning film was spun. It also happens to be one of the most beloved of Mozart’s major compositions and most widely performed by choral ensembles the world over.

The Steiner Chorale’s middle concert series of its 50th season will feature Mozart’s Requiem, and the program will include two Psalms by English composer Gustav Holst.

The first of two concerts will be led by conductor Suren Petrosyan, the Chorale, with the Mason Symphony Orchestra, and will present this program on March 16 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Concert time is 7:30 pm. Tickets are $10, and can be purchased at the door or online at SteinerChorale.org/tickets.

The second of two concerts will be presented on March 17 at First United Methodist Church in Eaton Rapids and will be accompanied by a small ensemble and conducted by Corb H. Felgenhour and feature soloists from the chorale itself. Concert time is 3 pm. Tickets are $10 and $5 for students, can be purchased at the door or online at SteinerChorale.org/tickets.
