Auditions

Our auditions are closed for the 2024-2025 season. After our next performance in April, the choir will be on break until the fall. We’ll post an open audition form on this page in August, so please check back. We look forward to hearing from you (pun intended)!

Singers are always welcome to participate with the chorale and are usually added during the first two rehearsals. Current or recent avocation will be taken into consideration. The chorale reserves the right to require an audition for any inquiring singer.

Auditions consist of vocalization to determine a singer’s voice part, perform a snippet of “America the Beautiful”, and a short sight-singing exercise. This process is designed to be informal and non-intimidating so prospective singers can learn more about the chorale and the chorale can learn about them.

Rehearsals are on Monday nights from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at University United Methodist Church on Harrison Road in East Lansing.

 

Rehearsal Expectations for members

• Come to rehearsal prepared and ready to rehearse
• Contact section leader when unable to attend rehearsal
• Come to every rehearsal (2-3 exceptions allowed per concert)
• Pay member dues to the treasurer near beginning of season unless special arrangements are made
• Participate in all concerts and community events unless otherwise negotiated with the artistic director
